Two Fonts
The St JOHN’S font
This fine marble font is one of the earliest stone fonts in the Episcopal church after the revolution: came from St John’s chapel, Golden Square, Aberdeen. It can be dated between 1815 and 1845.
It might have been transferred to St James chapel in the High Street when St John’s took possession of a much older and much more ornate font, which they still posses.

The BAPTISTRY font
When the Baptistry was built in 1905, the St John’s font would have been placed there. It must have looked quite small in the new Baptistry. This was in the time of Revd William Christie, When he died in 1931, his widow funded the acquisition of the much larger alabaster font now installed there.
The decoration is Celtic, somewhat similar to the larger font installed in St John’s.
