Note Aberdeen silversmiths had demonstrated their skills were on a par with other smiths in Edinburgh, London or the Low Countries. It was probably given in thanksgiving for the life of Revd George Garden, as he left a legacy of £10 (£1,100 in today’s money). He was the Incumbent from 1793 to 1834, and was instrumental in re-uniting the two chapels into one Episcopal Chapel for Stonehaven.

Notes When Bishop Forbes planted the daughter church of St Philip’s at Catterline in 1846, they would have needed Communion Vessels with which the celebrate the Eucharist. These vessels originate from that time.

Description Silver cross on circular oak base
Inscription “To the Glory of God and in grateful memory of the faithful ministry of William Leslie Christie, Rector of St James’s, Stonehaven 1890 -1931 and Dean of the Diocese of Brechin 1917-1931. This Cross with candlesticks and vases given by members of the congregation was dedicated by the Most Revd. W J F Robberds, Bishop of Brechin, Primus on 23rd September 1934″
