07. Robert Thomson

Dates of Rectorship: 1720/23 – 1737

Before –
Circa 1710: Priest at Lethnot

Additional Information –
Became Rector sometime between 1720 and 1723. The exact date is not known. In 1737 or 1738, Alexander Cheyne succeeded Thomson as the Rector at Stonehaven, but it seems that Thomson was probably still living in Stonehaven until 1741. He was involved in several legal disputes between the 1720s and 40s, all relating to land ownership. This is not uncommon for rural Scotland in this period, especially given that Thomson was a Jacobite.
