Additional Information –
Appointed Dean of Brechin in 1917, an office which, as with his rectorship, he held until death. In addition to his duties at Stonehaven, he also established a mission at nearby Cowie, the ruined churchyard of which he is buried in. A much beloved and well known figure both in Stonehaven and in the diocese at large. One of our fonts, our west window, two of our candlesticks, our flower vases, choir stalls, and altar cross are all dedicated to him, and paid for mostly by his extant family. During the First World War, he performed a memorial service in the home of every man from this congregation who was killed. He may also have done this occasionally for those in the town of other denominations.
