As of 1686, he was an Honorary Burgess of Aberdeen.<\/p>\n

He is almost certainly the brother of Patrick Ross, his successor at Stonehaven. Both men sometimes gave their name as \u201cRose\u201d. Much like the latter Ross, information on him can be difficult to track down (not surprising given the events of the time), and so again, much like Patrick, there is some controversy over the exact dates of his tenure, but it seems to have began in either 1709 or 1710.<\/p>\n

The rector at Old Machar during his time as an assistant there was John Keith, his father-in-law.<\/p>\n
